Mount Abu Summer Festival


Mout abu nestled up in the hills of Rajasthan is a cool little sanctuary, and it is, unlike the rest of
Rajasthan, a very cool place to visit in summer. Hill Station of the Rajasthan Mount Abu is in a festive mood with the Summer Festival, held every year in the Month of May or June on Budh Poornima. This festival states the warmth and cheerfulness of the people of hill station in terms of their colorful life, vivid nature, and the feeling of welcoming tourist from the depth of their hearts.

This festival is organized by the Rajasthan tourism, it begins with ballad singing and a traditional procession which assembles at the Nakki Lake. This is followed by various folk dances and classical Rajasthani and Gujarati music. The Gair and Ghoomar dances of Rajasthan are astonishing sights.

On the second and third day On the second and third day of the festival, various interesting competitions are held. Some of the popular competitions are, Tug of War, Horse Race, , Skating Race Panihari Matka Race and a lot more. The boat racing competition in the Nakki Lake is a real treat for the viewers. These competitions add absolute joy and and color to the festival. Also, The Sham-e-Qawwali is a much awaited musical show featuring well-known qawwali singers. And like any self-respecting festival, this one too ends with a bang, with a lovely display of shimmering fireworks.

Teej

This festival symbolizes virtiltiy along with the onset of monsoon. The festivity starts with the procession of Goddess teej in a decorated palanquin. Processions, women dressed in bright colours and a lot of merriment prevails during Teej. This is the time to renew the ties of fidelity for the married couple. This festival clearly depicts womanhood where the ladies gather in groups in colorful attires putting on henna tattoos, colorful bangles swing the rides which allures tourist all round the world to be the part of joyous celebration.

Gangaur Festival

An eighteen day festivity time where women folk observe fast and the festival is held in honor of Gauri (Parvati), the goddess of abundance.Gangaur symbolizes marital happiness achieved by Gauri.It is time for young girls to dress up in their finery and pray for grooms of their choice while the married women pray for the well-being of their husbands. During the festival several processions take place and the end of this festival is observed with immersing the idol of goddess parvati in lake.

Elephant Festival

This would be best time to visit Rajasthan during this festival where you find female elephants participating who looks no lesser then competing for a world class beauty peagent. This is a unique event trhat helds annually in the pink city. Groomed to perfection, glittering in gold, row upon row of elephants catwalk before an enthralled audience. The elephants move gracefully in procession,run races, play the regal game of polo. This festival is observed during the Holi festival.

Urs at Ajmer

Urs of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.) is celebrated every year in the first week of Rajab(Islamic month according to lunar calendar). Held in the memory of the revered Sufi Saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti.People from varied regions and religions gather here to receive the blessings of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz. The holy aura at dargah leaves one astonished with a feeling of goose bumps and certainly a time for introspection is felt.

Pushkar Fair

People around the globe gather here to visit and enjoy the festivity of this ancient religious town Pushkar. Pushkar is an important pilgrimage as well as the venue of a mammoth cattle fair. Bazaars, auctions, music and sports are highlight of this event. evenings at pushkar fair have their own charm with pierced calls by camels and slight music making the fair joyous one.

Desert Festival
