Tulip Festivals are held in several cities around the world, Srinagar, India celebrates Tulip Festival in the month of April in Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden previously named as Model Floriculture Centre, which is the largest Tulip garden of Asia spread over an area of about 12 hectares . Tulip Festival is held annually in the 1st two weeks of April. It is situated on the foothills of Zabarwan Hills with an overview of picturesque world famous Dal Lake. Nearly 70 varieties of beautiful and vibrant tulips grow in this garden. Last year more than 400,000 new bulbs of 8 new varieties of flowers were imported from Holland and added for the festival.

The Tulip Festival was started in 2007 to market business enterprise and has been quite thriving in attracting individuals from everywhere the planet. With the onset of spring, people throng to the place to urge a view of this brilliant place. Deparment of tourism here organize numerous different events in conjunction with the tulip festival and supply business for handicrafts for the native craftsmen, performances by folk dancers and songs that the guests like to watch. One may get pleasure from the various Kashmiri preparation that’s prepared regionally and could be a favorite among the tourists.

    I have been to this place last July during my Delhi-Ladakh road trip…Didn’t see much of Tulips but would love to see this place in all its colorful glory someday.
