Jaipur Elephant Festival 2013

We always think and talk about camels, camel festivals or the royal palaces whenever we talk about Rajasthan but the month March ends on a very lively note as a day before Holi whole Pink city centers around Elephant to celebrate one of the unique event called Jaipur Elephant Festival.

Jaipur’s Chaugan Stadium is where the Jaipur Elephant Festival takes place. Event starts from 4 pm in the evening and goes on till 7 p.m. Chaugan Stadium is located to the north of Tripolia Gate and the City Palace and right in the middle of the Old City of Jaipur.The Elephant festival begins with an attractive procession of adorned elephants, camels, horses along with the folk dance performances. The Elephant owners with pride embellish their elephants with vibrant colours, jhools (saddle cloth) and heavy jewelry.

it’s quite an treat to ascertain feminine elephants carrying anklets, that tinkle as they walk. One will seeindividuals sprinkling ‘gulaal’ (colored powder) perked up on top of the elephant. the foremost fantasticallyadorned elephant is awarded.Elephant polo, Tug-of-war between Elephant and 19 men and women is just amazing to watch, Elephant race, Elephant dance are some of the main attractions of the festival.
