Makar Sakranti

Makar sakranti is one of the most halcyon occasion and is a major harvest festival celebrated in various
of India myriad cultural forms, with great, fervor, devotion and gaiety. It is said as a “holy phase of
transition” and is celebrated on a fixed date i.e on 14 January on every year.

Scientifically, this day marks the onset of warmer and longer days are compared to the night. On the
makr Sakranti Sun enters the Uttarayan. Hence, the days become longer and night becomes shorter.

Makar Sakranti is celebrated with different names and rituals in different parts of the country.On Makar Sakranti married womenpray to Sun god for long life of their husbands and give presents to the elders. Inspirited by all these faiths and beliefs people celebrate the auspicious festival of Makar Sakranti.

    I liked your blog. You could’ve added a few places that celebrate Makar Sankranti with Kite flying. Jaipur marks makar Sankranti as one of the most eventful days of the mark. It is a special holiday. Kite flying here is almost like religion, only difference is all religions believe in it. You may encourage tourists to visit during this time as they will witness something magnificent during this time. and best part is ‘there is nothing official about kite flying in Jaipur’ !!
